A buyer’s quality checklist for OEM film programs

Define the product before requesting a price

An OEM automotive film quotation is only useful when the specification is clear. State the product type, material, thickness, roll size, finish, target warranty, estimated quantity and destination market. For window film, include VLT and heat-rejection requirements. For PPF, include gloss or matte finish, expected installation behavior and target climate. For PET or TPU color film, identify color, surface effect and batch-matching expectations.

Approve samples against written criteria

Do not approve a sample only because the first visual impression is good. Record the sample code and batch, then check dimensions, surface quality, liner release, adhesive behavior and installation performance. Evaluate the film on realistic vehicle curves and edges. If color is important, compare it under daylight and indoor lighting. The approved sample should become the reference for bulk production.

Verify technical and compliance documents

Request a technical data sheet containing the measurable parameters relevant to the product. Ask which tests are performed internally and which are supported by external laboratories. Confirm packaging labels, country-of-origin documents and any destination-specific information required by your customs broker. Claims such as UV rejection, infrared rejection or warranty duration should be supported by a defined test or warranty policy.

Review private-label packaging

For OEM and ODM orders, approve the carton design, core label, roll label, barcode and instruction material before printing. Check brand spelling, model numbers and units carefully. Packaging must protect the roll from moisture, impact and telescoping during export transport. It should also allow warehouses and distributors to identify batches without opening the carton.

Confirm production and inspection checkpoints

Agree on lead time, pre-production approval, in-process inspection and final shipment release. Buyers should receive photos or inspection records for important OEM orders. Roll count, dimensions and carton marks must match the packing list. A retained sample from each production batch can help resolve future comparisons.

Start with a controlled first order

A smaller qualification order reduces risk before a full-market launch. KSDFILM offers MOQ from one roll for sample and product evaluation, with OEM and private-label support for qualified wholesale programs. Provide your target specification, destination and expected quantity to receive a focused quotation rather than a generic price list.
